The rain in Houston has been horrible, especially for an outdoor archery range. We will be inspecting the 3D field tonite and see wether or not it is viable for a shoot. If it is not, we will setup the animal targets on the practice field and have a shootdown style 3d tournament.
We want to assure everyone that we are holding the event regardless!!
We will make the final decision tonite and post on the facebook page if we will be holding a traditional 3d tournament on the 3d field or a shootdown tournament on the practice field. So please stay tuned.
If we do have a 3D shootdown, then setup will change to 7am Sunday morning. Thank you for your patience and understanding and please come out to help with setup. ... See MoreSee Less

We at BFAC have been monitoring the grounds, in particular the Field and 3D ranges. All three are drying out, but very muddy and there is still a lot of water in the usual spots where water sits…. The water is stagnating and full of algae bloom too. There are lots of snakes out as well. Last weekend, we had a work party to try to salvage and do what we could. We figured we would hold out to the end as to make the decision whether to cancel both the SYWAT (Saturday and Sunday) and the 3D (Sunday) shoots. We even put out a poll on Facebook. Out of 10 member votes, we had 2 members vote for the 3D shoot and 8 members vote against the 3D shoot this Father’s Day weekend. We did not put out a vote for the SYWAT.
At this point, it is beginning to look like with the small and overworked crew of usual volunteers we will probably opt out to have either event. With all the water, mud, algae, mosquitoes, and work to repair the damage to the grounds we simply don’t have time or man power on our side to flatten the grounds, and treat for mosquitos much less try to set up both ranges for Father’s Day. It would be disappointing to those who worked to set up these shoots if no one else came to help and then only 10 shooters showed up on Father’s Day weekend. We, volunteers, are fathers too, who have fathers that we want to see.
The good news is, both the practice main range and the world archery ranges are both open and both have been treated for mosquitos!!! So get out and shoot!!! But bring lots of water, its very hot out there! Enjoy, and Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! ... See MoreSee Less
